In the recent Provincial High School Wrestling Chamionships in Abbotsford Marina defeated a Grade 12 girl in the final match to bring home the Gold Metal. Attention Parents of Teen Drivers!
Did you know that car crashes are the number one cause of death and serious injury among teenagers in B.C. Drivers aged 16 -19 years old have a fatality rate more than four times that of drivers aged 25-34, and nine times that of drivers aged 45-54.
New drivers lack experience and combined with a lack of practice and guidance can be a dangerous mix when it comes to making that split-second decision in a life or death situation.
Research indicates that car crashes involving young drivers can be reduced by up to 1/3 when parents take an active role in their teenager’s driving education, setting limits and being a good role model.
The PAC at Peter Skene Ogden Secondary is hosting a BCAA Traffic Safety Foundation In The Driver’s Seat workshop.
The workshop for parents, grandparents and caregivers of teen drivers has received excellent reviews from over 1627 participants around the province. Parents come away feeling more knowledgeable, encouraged and confident that they can actually help their teenagers to become smart and safe drivers.
